In Mr. Tagtmeier’s 30+ year career, he has represented clients in complex multi-party litigation, including commercial and residential construction defect matters, real estate, employment law, partnership disputes, and hospitality cases. As a trial lawyer, Mr. Tagtmeier has tried or arbitrated over 70 cases with more than half as the first chair.

In addition to his trial practice, Mr. Tagtmeier is a certified mediator and arbitrator. In his mediation practice, he has mediated over 1800 cases, including matters regarding commercial and residential construction, professional liability (med mal, attorney malpractice), intellectual property, collection matters, lien and bond claims, sexual harassment, FSLA claims, wrongful termination, personal injury, property damage, maritime personal injury and property damage, breach of contract, fraud, libel and slander, DTPA, custody battles and divorces. As an arbitrator, Mr. Tagtmeier has served on over 200 panels, over 30 of which have gone to hearing with most as the chairperson. He volunteers with FINRA, the securities regulatory entity that oversees all broker/customer disputes.

Mr. Tagtmeier is a frequent speaker at CLE events having authored papers on the Residential Construction Liability Act and Texas Lien and Bond Claims. He has also received several awards from his colleagues for his work. He was recognized in Houstonia Magazine as one of Houston’s Top Lawyers in Mediation and Construction Law and in H Texas Magazine as one of Houston’s Top Lawyers in Mediation and Construction Law.

When Mr. Tagtmeier is not helping his clients, he is an active volunteer with the Rodeo Austin and the Austin Dispute Resolution Center. He also loves his Rice Owls and the Houston Astros as baseball is one of his passions. He enjoys living in Austin with his wife where he can hike without traveling long distances and spend time on the water.
